In these interesting times, transformation is constant and across all levels. It is a dynamic process during which the concept of relevance is constantly being redefined, whereas artworks’ inherent narrative, being the value in its own right, as well as sentimentality under this context, are acquiring a political quality. Familiarity and intimacy are my main points of interest.
Depicting or constructing colourful instances of small revelations or the ties to a sentimentally active state of the soul, as a means of preserving human nature in the middle of a swirling reality; underlining and thus augmenting the presence of emotions.
BIO
Nikos Kachrimanis was born in 1983, and has been actively practicing photography since 2002. He has attended the photography seminars on history and theory of photography, and development and printing of black and white film at the student’s club of University of Athens (2002 – 2003), the seminar “Personal Photo Project Development” of Hellenic Center of Photography (2015 – 2016) and the course “Photography: Theory and Creative Practices” of Athens School of Fine Arts (2016 – 2017). His work was included in the photo book REVIEW#17, edited by K. Ioannidis, E. Mouzakiti and L. Papanikolatos, and its multimedia screenings at Athens School of Fine Arts (2017).
He participated at the Photography Workshop and Residency of Sterna Festival at Tinos island, Greece (2017, oncoming group exhibition: July 2017). Work of his has been shown on the tumblr page of SFMOMA (2017), the open call submission website of STUDIO 47 art space in Amsterdam (2017) and Pamplemousse(2017).
