A FOREST Vol.V: We’re made of places
“A Forest is a work in progress started in april 2013. The starting-point was the reading of Berlin Childhood, by the German philosopher Walter Benjamin, in particular when he says “Not to find one’s way in a city may well be uninteresting and banal. It requires ignorance, nothing more.”
But to lose oneself in a city – as one loses oneself in a forest – that calls for a quite different schooling. Then, signboard and street names, passers-by, roofs, kiosks, or bars must speak to the wanderer like a cracking twig under his feet in the forest.”. After reading this book, I started to see the city I live (it’s irrelevant to know which one is) in a different way. I started to dismantle the city as I liked and, through my photographs, try to build a new one, that change continuously.
So these photographs shows only few of the many existing levels of the forest, but they try to create another, imaginary, one and only. A Forest is a printed zine, this issue has been released in october 2015. Maybe one day there will be a sixth volume, or maybe not.”
