The series of Marcin Bańdo photographs called “Heim” ( “Home” in Icelandic) is an intimate scrapbook; a set of reality clippings noticed by the author.
They are filled with explosive emotionality; and directly show rough and imperfect side of everyday life. This world seems to be a mixture of dangerous intimacy, strong personal relation with presented situations and a distance and cold registration. Simplicity of scenes becomes a violent overtone.
Portraits of author’s family, friends and parts of bodies are combined with a photos of space and abstract, nonevident compositions.
Because of it he audience have an impression of association with photographer’s inner landscape which flash with existentional anxiety. Magdalena Franczuk
“My photography is a process of recording memories and emotions, analyzing them. Thanks to it I explore my relations with the environment in both common and intimate. Personal document, photo story, and long photo essay are my favourite forms of expression.”
